Spent the past two nights watching SyFy's 'Alice', and I really liked it. There were a few moments where I thought, "This is familiar, in a doesn't-quite-fit sort of way", but I still enjoyed it. Between the two I think that 'Tin Man' was the overall better done of the two, but I always felt like it ended rather abruptly. Yes they stopped and defeated the witch, but the tower is still full of scientists who believe in what she was doing and the resistance is still fighting with the Longcoats, not to mention the Longcoats spread throughout the O.Z., quite a few of whom were shown to not just be the punch-clock villains the Queen's suits were. With 'Alice' they actually showed the suits abandoning the Queen and joining Jack, even helping to start setting things right.
Geekness: On Thanksgiving we pulled out an old trivial pursuit game, and I mean old in that it had questions about silent films that even my grandparents were too young to have seen. One of the questions was "Which cards in a deck are also called bullets?" The answer was "Aces". In 'Alice', it is the Aces who use guns.
